The Three Focuses Part II

Dec 5, 2018

Here is part II of The Three Focuses for the new TheGentleTraveler.com site.

And here is a little more about those three focuses I talk about in Part I in more detail:

Lower Stress: This is a given. Without it, the other two focuses for a happier, healthier you really can’t happen at all. When we are feeling stress, stressed-out hormones (mainly cortisol and adrenaline) our rushing through our bodies. We are thinking and acting through our “limbic brain.” We are strategizing about what we need to survive physically or emotionally, not visualizing about an amazing future. Sometimes I hear folks say “Well, I feel more focused when I am under deadline, stressed out, etc.” Yes, that is the outcome of adrenaline and the one-pointedness that comes from our survival mechanisms. You are not going to dream up a new technology, write a poem that will inspire millions or come up with a new business that could bring in a thousand jobs when you are under a super "stressed out" state of mind.

Our brains, just like our bodies, operate on frequency. The stuff that makes up our thoughts is energy. And in turn, we create energy through them. In nerd-speak, the stress response operates at what is called High Beta brain waves. My job as a health coach and energy worker is to help you by teaching you how to reach a state of low beta, high alpha or, better yet when visualizing the life that you want, theta all on your own. This is a state where you are able to manifest dreams that really do come true.

Self-worth: What is self worth? And how do you know that you have it? If you are an adult living in the modern world, self worth can be measured by the self-talk that is constantly running in your head. We all have “the voice” that makes ongoing commentary on decisions we make, and actions we take. What does your voice sound like? And do you believe it?

A lot of us (probably most of us) have a fairly critical commentary going on all of the time. This voice may sound like dear old mom or dad or Darth Vader. The question to ask when it comes to self worth is “How much do you believe that voice?”

on the other hand, if the voice is calm, supportive and nurturing, like the sweetest of mums, that’s great. Keep on listening! If not, self worth can then be measured on how much you really “take it in.” If the commentary blabbers on and you see through its commentary or simply ignore it all together, reaching instead for your own conscious (versus subconscious) observations of your actions, then you are on the way to high self-worth. It is a start. If you believe the commentary lock stock and barrel, then you are going down the spiral of self-rejection and low self worth.

Achieving true self-worth takes time for many of us. It is an ongoing process. High self-worth means you are glad to take time for “self-nurturing” because you know that you are worth it (and the time you take taking care of yourself will pay off in the long run by helping you to serve others through your own best self).

Developing self worth also takes time for reflection. Time for planning. Time for working on dreams that may not be making a profit right now and that other people don’t understand or may even criticize you for.

How infinitely amazing do you think you really are? If this question makes you cringe, read it again and observe your reaction.

In order to make the time for self-nurturing, reflection and manifesting your dreams, you have to believe that these dreams are worth it. It is really hard to believe your dreams are worth your time if you don’t believe that YOU are worth the time!

Self worth is also tied to self-forgiveness. It means dropping your own demand for perfectionism in yourself (and in others). It also means giving yourself A LOT of slack for slip ups, forgetfulness and crazy emotions that will inevitably rise to the surface in the course of your life (and maybe even in one day!).

Energy Centers: Finally, once stress lowers and self-worth goes up a notch, you can take an objective look at what is going on in the realms of your own being that goes beyond what you can see with your physical eyes. This has to do with who we are beyond the physical body.

Fact is, we have many layers to our being beyond what we can see (yet). There is our energy body. Some say we have a mental body (also called the witness), a bliss body, and a part of us that is connected to a Field where we are nothing and everything at the same time. I believe this as well.

Jeffrey Allen and others say to consider ourselves as a physical body inside an energy body, not the other way around. And we can think of the energy body as extending sometimes up to 12 feet all the way around. We are that big! The energy body is where what some people call our “chakras” or “energy centers” are located. Our energy centers can be thought of as the gateways between our physical bodies and our energetic bodies. They are important because often times they can help us to “clean up” blocks in our energy body and beyond where physical disease, mental incongruities and ongoing traumas can effect us here on earth. Blocks in energy can muddy up our thinking and make us feel like we are walking zombies, with no energy at all.

As a health coach, energy worker and teacher, it is my job to help you work with your own physical body (through diet and nutrition, stress management and lifestyle changes) as well as your energy body (through visualization, experience and tools for unblocking and attuning).

My goal is to also eventually be out of a job. Seriously! I honestly believe that each one of us has the innate power to heal ourselves through working on our physical body and our energetic body. We just need to learn the skills on how best to do that and then put those skills to practice on a regular, sometimes daily, basis. It really is that simple.

I am committed to helping you access your own power because the world needs the unique, authentic you now more than ever!
